Day 5

I reviewed everything that I taught the children last week and I taught them the sign for "number" and numbers 1 through 30 and the sign for 100.

Day 6

I taught the children how to sign time which included the signs for watch and clock. I also taught them how to sign the days of the week and introduced them to the signs for "mother", "father", "man", "woman", "grandfather", "grandmother", "uncle", "aunt", and "male/female cousin".

Day 7

I went over the book, If You Give a Pig a Party once again because some of the children wanted to see me read it again. They seemed to enjoy it more this time. I then taught the children different emotions. This was the least responsive lesson. I personally feel it was because the end of the school year was approaching, and it was not as fun as learning colors and numbers. I then played a game with them that I created. The game was that I would play the sound of a certain animal and the children would try to guess the animal. I then revealed the animal that makes the sound and I taught them the sign for that animal. The children loved the game!

Day 8

Since today was my last day with the children, I wanted to make it special. I first taught the kids different foods and reviewed everything I have taught them over the time I had spent with them. After reviewing, it was time to play a game! I took old silly bands that I collected when I was little and used them as part of the game. The kids sat in a circle, and I passed around a bag of silly bands. Each child pulled a silly band out of the bag and signed the color and the shape of the band. After they signed it correctly, I had them place it in front of them. Next, I had a bag full of plastic foods. The kids went around in a circle and signed the food they pulled out of the bag. The last bag contained toys. The children signed the object and color of the pieces that they pulled out of the bag. I let them keep the silly bands from the first activity and the larger prize from the third activity. I then gave them a reflection sheet so I had an understanding of how much they enjoyed the lessons. The feedback was very positive! Lastly, I gave them coloring sheets to take home.
